Let us remember each other with one heart and mind. Let us pray for each other always and lighten our burdens and anxieties by our mutual love.
(Letter of Saint Cyprian to Pope Saint Cornelius)

ENTRANCE ANTIPHON

MR
In heaven do rejoice the souls of the Saints
who have followed the steps of Christ;
and because they shed their blood for the love of Christ,
therefore shall they be made glad forever with Christ.

ACT OF PENITENCE

Brothers and sisters, let us acknowledge our sins,
that we may be ready to celebrate the sacred mysteries.

You are the Kingdom of God whose coming we desire.
Kyrie, eleison.

You are our Resurrection, for in you we rise again.
Christe, eleison.

You are the Kingdom of God, for in you we reign.
Kyrie, eleison.

(Cf. Saint Cyprian, On the Lord’s Prayer)

May Almighty God have mercy on us,
and lead us, with our sins forgiven,
into eternal life.

COLLECT

O God, who gave Saints Cornelius and Cyprian to your people
to be watchful pastors and invincible martyrs,
grant that, through their intercession,
we may be strengthened in faith and constancy,
and work unsparingly for the unity of the Church.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God, forever and ever.

GENERAL INTERCESSIONS

For the Church in North Africa,
that strengthened by the Holy Spirit,
she may bear witness to the peace of Christ in the midst of unrest,
and to the prayer of Christ in the midst of an Islamic culture,
to the Lord we pray: Christ, hear us. R. CHRIST, GRACIOUSLY HEAR US.

For bishops and priests;
that they may take care of the Church of God and so grow in holiness;
and for deacons;
that they may hold fast to the Mystery of Faith with a clear conscience,
to the Lord we pray: Christ, hear us. R. CHRIST, GRACIOUSLY HEAR US.

For those who wield power
or exercise influence over peoples and nations,
that they may turn away from every project of bloodshed and war,
and resolutely seek the things that make for peace,
to the Lord we pray: Christ, hear us. R. CHRIST, GRACIOUSLY HEAR US.

For those who have fallen away from the Church
in times of persecution, scandal, or conflict;
that they may be welcomed back with wisdom and compassion,
to the Lord we pray: Christ, hear us. R. CHRIST, GRACIOUSLY HEAR US.

For ourselves, that following the teaching of Saint Cyprian
and of our Holy Father Saint Benedict,
we may prefer nothing whatever to Christ
who preferred nothing to us,
holding fast to his love and never letting go,
to the Lord we pray: Christ, hear us. R. CHRIST, GRACIOUSLY HEAR US.

COLLECT AT THE GENERAL INTERCESSIONS

Almighty and ever-living God,
who gave to Saints Cornelius and Cyprian
boldness to confess the name of Christ
and to stand bravely by his cross in persecution,
grant us, we beseech you,
to seek your will at all times,
trusting only in the grace of Christ
who is Lord forever and ever.

(Cf. Saint Cyprian, On the Lord’s Prayer)

OFFERTORY ANTIPHON

GR
The Saints shall rejoice in glory,
they shall be joyful in their repose:
the high praises of God
shall be in their mouths, alleluia (Ps 149:5–6).

PRAYER OVER THE OFFERINGS

Receive, we beseech you, Lord,
the gifts offered by your people
in memory of the passion of your martyrs;
may the things that provided Saints Cornelius and Cyprian
with strength in persecution,
also give us constancy in the midst of trials.
Through Christ our Lord.

PREFACE
(From the Proper of North Africa)

It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation,
always and everywhere to give you thanks,
Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God,
through Christ our Lord.

Following his example,
Saint Cyprian tended with loving care
the flock that was in his charge:
he formed it by his teachings,
helped it in times of trial,
and encouraged and strengthened it in persecution.

When his hour came,
he did not seek to flee a martyr’s death
but handing himself over, followed even to the end
the Good Shepherd who gives his life for his sheep.

And so, in proclaiming the power of your grace
at work in the saints,
we unite our voices to those of the angels,
to sing the everlasting hymn of your glory:

COMMUNION ANTIPHON
MR
You are those who have continued with me in my trials;
and I assign to you, as my Father assigned to me, a kingdom,
that you may eat and drink
at my table in my kingdom (Lk 22:28-30).

PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION

Lord, by these mysteries which we have received,
we humbly implore you that,
following the example of Saints Cornelius and Cyprian,
we may be confirmed in the strength of your Spirit,
and so be able to bear witness to the truth of the Gospel.
Through Christ our Lord.
