Bestow upon your servants,
we beseech you, O Lord,
the gift of your heavenly grace:
so that we for whom the beginning of salvation dawned
with the childbearing of the Blessed Virgin,
may receive an increase of peace
on this festival of her Nativity.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God, forever and ever.

ENTRANCE ANTIPHON

MR
With joy and gladness
let us celebrate the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary,
from whom has risen the Sun of Justice, Christ our God.

ACT OF PENITENCE

Brothers and sisters, let us acknowledge our sins,
that we may be ready to celebrate the sacred mysteries.

You are the Desired of all nations.
Kyrie, eleison.

You are the flower of the Root of Jesse.
Christe, eleison.

You rescue us from darkness and the shadow of death.
Kyrie, eleison.

May Almighty God have mercy on us,
and lead us, with our sins forgiven,
into eternal life.

GENERAL INTERCESSIONS

That the Church in East and West
may rejoice together today
in the Nativity of the Holy Mother of God:
the gate that opens to the Rising Sun,
the Scroll of the Living Word,
the Door made ready for the entrance of the High Priest,
to the Lord we pray: Christ, hear us. R. CHRIST, GRACIOUSLY HEAR US.

That, through the intercession of the Mother of God,
those caught up in hatred may be converted to mercy,
those who plot evil become instruments of peace,
and those who seek revenge find the path to reconciliation,
to the Lord we pray: Christ, hear us. R. CHRIST, GRACIOUSLY HEAR US.

That those who enjoy security may show compassion
to those who live in uncertainty and fear;
and that all who suffer may lift their eyes to the Virgin Mary
and find in her life, sweetness, and hope,
to the Lord we pray: Christ, hear us. R. CHRIST, GRACIOUSLY HEAR US.

That by contemplating the Infant Mary
we may be converted to the way of spiritual childhood,
and so take our place in the kingdom prepared for us,
to the Lord we pray: Christ, hear us. R. CHRIST, GRACIOUSLY HEAR US.

COLLECT AT THE GENERAL INTERCESSIONS

Almighty and ever-living God,
the Saviour of those in despair and doubt,
who hear the prayers of the needy
and change the sorrow of barrenness
into the joy of bearing fruit;
through the prayers of the child of Joachim and Anna,
the all-pure Mother of your Son,
and the Cause of our Joy,
deliver us, we beseech you,
from growing old in a sterile bitterness;
give us to abound in good works;
free us from warfare, relieve oppression, and lift every yoke of tyranny.
Through Christ our Lord.

OFFERTORY ANTIPHON

GR
Truly blessed are you, O Virgin Mary:
you bore the Creator of all things
and brought forth Him who made you,
remaining a Virgin forevermore.

PRAYER OVER THE OFFERINGS

Celebrating with joy
the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary,
we bring you our gifts, O Lord,
and humbly implore that the humanity of your Son
come to our rescue
for of that same Virgin he deigned to take flesh.
Who lives and reigns forever and ever.

PREFACE

It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation,
always and everywhere to give you thanks,
Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God.

We celebrate this radiant birthday,
when, like a wonderful bright star appearing,
the Mother of God, Mary pure and glorious,
was born into the world.
She has opened to us the gate of eternal life
which Eve in paradise had closed against us.
Through Christ her Son she leads us back
to the joyful light of our ancient home.

And so, with the Virgin Mary and all the saints
we join to sing the majesty of your glory
in this, their joyful hymn of praise:

COMMUNION ANTIPHON
MR
Behold, the virgin shall be with child and bear a son,
and his name shall be called Emmanuel,
which means, God-with-us (Mt 1:23)

PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION

Lord, may your Church,
refreshed by these sacred mysteries,
exult and rejoice on the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary,
the hope of the entire world and the dawn of salvation.
Through Christ our Lord.
