GENERAL INTERCESSIONS

That, through the intercession of Saint Januarius, Bishop and Martyr,
the Church in Naples, in Benevento, and throughout the world,
may rejoice in the unity of the Holy Spirit
and in the diversity of His gifts,
to the Lord we pray: Christ, hear us. R. CHRIST, GRACIOUSLY HEAR US.

That our Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI,
may be preserved from the hands of his enemies,
strengthened for the upbuilding of the Church,
and comforted by the Holy Spirit,
to the Lord we pray: Christ, hear us. R. CHRIST, GRACIOUSLY HEAR US.

That world leaders and public servants
may foster the transmission of beauty, truth, and goodness
from generation to generation,
to the Lord we pray: Christ, hear us. R. CHRIST, GRACIOUSLY HEAR US.

That, through the prayers and tears
of Our Lady of La Salette,
Catholics may honour Sunday as the Day of the Lord,
those estranged from the Church return to her,
and sinners be reconciled,
to the Lord we pray: Christ, hear us. R. CHRIST, GRACIOUSLY HEAR US.

That the tears of the Sorrowful Mother of La Salette
may obtain for all who are dead in sin
the grace of spiritual resurrection,
and for all of us
the grace to walk, day by day, in the company of the Prince of Life,
to the Lord we pray: Christ, hear us. R. CHRIST, GRACIOUSLY HEAR US.

COLLECT AT THE GENERAL INTERCESSIONS

O God,
who through the Precious Blood of your Son,
reconciled the world to yourself
and, at the foot of the Cross,
designated His Mother to be the reconciler of sinners,
grant, we beseech you,
that through the intercession of the same Blessed Virgin Mary
we may obtain pardon for our faults.
