Te Deum Laudamus

nennolina%20banner.jpg

Dear Jesus,
I want to be Thy lamp that, close to Thee,
burns with a flame of love,
Thy lily that remains always to adorn Thy altar
and to adore Thee.

Today, 17 December 2007, Our Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI received in a private audience His Eminence, the Most Reverend Lord Cardinal José Saraiva Martins, Prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints. In the course of the audience, the Holy Father authorized the Congregation to promulgate the heroicity of the virtues of the Servant of God Antonietta Meo, called Nennolina, a little girl born in Rome, in the parish of Santa Croce in Gerusalemme, on 15 December 1930, where she also died on 3 July 1937. Nennolina is buried in the Basilica of Santa Croce in Gerusalemme. The Venerable Servant of God attended the school of the Apostles of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, also in the parish of Santa Croce in Gerusalemme.

What good news!sb

Father John Horgan:

This is wonderful news indeed! In the past, the lives of so many children sanctified by the early and frequent reception of Holy Communion inspired the great and the small; now it seems that the Holy Spirit wants to reveal once more the marvels of His grace in the lives and souls of His little ones! Each time that I visit Santa Croce, I bring home a load of holy cards of Nennolina which I touch to her tomb. All of the children in our CCD classes have "adopted" her; and the First Communion class says her prayer regularly. I hope that many priests will invoke her for their parish children and also propose her heroic love to the sick.

PAZ:

Having prayed frequently at the grave of Nennolina I am happy to see her cause progress. To be so young and to be a mystic is indeed a testimony of grace. May the Venerable Servant of God request on our behalf the gift of intimacy with the Lord.
