Why Our Lady of the Cenacle?

The Cenacle

The Cenacle is the upper room in which Our Divine Lord instituted the adorable Sacrament of His Most Holy Body and Blood, making His Apostles the first priests of the Church, and humbling Himself to wash their feet. In the splendour of His Resurrection, Our Lord appeared to His Apostles, again in the Cenacle. It was in the same Cenacle that the Apostles, assembled around the Virgin Mother of Jesus, awaited the promised Gift of the Holy Ghost, by persevering together in prayer. When, on the day of Pentecost, the Holy Ghost descended upon them in tongues of fire and in a mighty wind, this too took place in the Cenacle.

Silverstream Priory

Silverstream Priory, under the patronage of Our Lady of the Cenacle, was first established, under the Rule of Saint Benedict, by the Most Reverend Edward J. Slattery, Bishop of Tulsa,Oklahoma, during the Year of the Priest (2009-2010). In February 2012 the monastic community moved to County Meath, Ireland, to occupy a house already hallowed by the Visitation Nuns (1955-2011), and before them, by the Hospitaller Brothers of Saint John of God (1941-1955). On December 31st, 2012, His Lordship, Bishop Michael Smith, established the monastery in the Diocese of Meath, approved the Constitutions, and appointed the first Conventual Prior.

Our Mission

The ecclesial mandate of the fledgling community is to adore the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar in a spirit of reparation, and to intercede for the sanctification of priests by "persevering with one mind in prayer with Mary, the Mother of Jesus" (Acts 1. 14).

I'm a consecrated virgin living in the world (per canon 604) of the Archdioces of OKC. I enjoy reading your blog. Sorry I've not taken the time in the past to email comments. I'll keep your work in my prayers.

In Christ,

I would someday like to visit. Please pray that I may discern God's particular will for my life. Thank you, your servant in Christ, Carlos Pedraja

I am involved myself as an adorer and co-ordinator with the apostolate of Eucharistic Adoration here in the parish of Shannon, County Clare, Ireland. We have approx. 200 adorers, each of whom will have pledged a weekly specific hour on a specific day to visiting Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.Adoration hours are Mon-Fri, 10am-9pm.all year round, aside from Bank Holidays, Good Friday and a few days during the Christmas period. Adoration began in our parish of St. Senans in September, 1995 and, praise the Lord, is still flourishing as strongly as ever. I help to co-ordinate this special devotion and was wondering if we ... that is, yourselves and our adorers here in Shannon... might, perhaps, form a kind of prayer-link in the sense that we would support each other through prayer for one another and for the success of our endeavours on behalf of the Lord. I am certain that our members would enthusiastically embrace such an idea and if you were to feel yourself that it merits further thought we would love to hear from you, at your convenience.
I think that it is marvellous that an order of priests has now been formed with the distinctive mission of Eucharistic Adoration for the sanctification of priests. It is so much needed in these troubled times. Anyhow Fr. Mark, may God bless you and your congretation and may you always abide in the light of the Lord. We'll pray about it !
